Why did you choose Linfield?
I choose Linfield because it had the best combination of giving me the opportunity to reach my academics and athletics, while being part of a supportive community.
What do you plan to pursue after Linfield?
After graduation I plan on working as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse and then furthering my education past a bachelor’s degree to pursue a Certified Register Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
What activities do you participate in on campus?
I am a member of the cross country and track and field teams.
Why did you choose to register with Learning Support Services?
I choose to register with LSS because I have been diagnosis with dyslexia since the 5th grade and know that it would give me the best opportunity be the most successful in my academics.
What has been your experience working with LSS within the office?
I have had a great experience working with the LSS team, they are always willing to find the best solution and outcome for each student and understanding that no two people need the same accommodations. In addition, they generally care about each student that comes into the office.
What has been your experience communicating with professors about using accommodations?
I have had a positive experience in communicating with professors about using accommodation. At the beginning of each semester professors always reach out and communicate about ways they can give me best chance to succeed in their class.
What strategies do you use to help you meet your academic goals?
A few strategies that I use to meet my academic goals is using a planner to visually see upcoming assignments, focusing on one task at a time, and taking breaks from school to have fun!
What advice would you give students who are thinking about working with LSS?
The advice I would give to students who are thinking about working with LSS is to set up a meeting. The team at LSS is very knowledgeable about all the accommodations available and talking about best strategies be successful in school.
