Transfer student advising
Academic Advising supports new students transferring to Linfield from another institution. New transfer students starting at Linfield in Fall 2022 can get prepared for registration by reading the new students and transfer credit pages which offer information about the following topics:
- Transfer credit and the Linfield Curriculum (Linfield's general education requirements)
- Transfer grids for specific sending institutions
- Transfer course equivalency search (enter the name of your institution and click on institution name or "guides" at the right for specific program information)
- How to read and understand the official transcript evaluation and program evaluation
- How quarter credits transfer to a semester system
- The steps required to get cleared to register for courses
- More information about degree requirements is available through the Office of the Registrar
- Linfield Curriculum and Degree Requirements worksheet (.xlsx)
- Email Template for outreach to your assigned Transfer Faculty Advisor (.doc)
- How to upload a photo for your ID card
Depending on how many transferable credits a student enters Linfield with (based on a formal transcript evaluation), new transfer students will be eligible to register for courses as early as April, after consulting with their faculty advisor about a course schedule. New transfer students on the McMinnville campus are assigned a professional advisor that will onboard and assist students transition to Linfield. The professional advisor will facilitate a smooth advising transition to a faculty advisor in the discipline the student plans to pursue.
All new students are assigned a Registration & Orientation Leader (ROL), a peer assigned to assist new students in navigating the process of registration for courses and preparing for coming to Linfield in the fall.
If you have questions prior to applying to Linfield, contact the Office of Admission for more information.
