Moving the Needle Update - seeking working group members

In October, our partners at Credo gave a summary of their findings for the Moving the Needle initiative; if you have not seen the presentation, we recommend watching it.

They identified Clearance, Early Intervention, and Academic Advising as key areas:

Clearance : Developing a coordinated and collaborative Clearance process for students to have a clear pathway to registration (and ultimately graduation) term-after-term. The current Linfield Clearance process involves several offices working independently to ensure the steps for their office are completed by students, which is inefficient and confusing for students.

Early Intervention: A focus on early alert and intervention, with emphasis on the first-year student population, provides opportunities for collaborative planning and proactivity that enables differentiated support and engagement for the various student populations. It also ensures integration and visibility for campus partners with the goal of a stepped care model of support.

Academic Advising: Designing and fully implementing a consistent advising model that:

  • Promotes clear and consistent student academic pathways;
  • Integrates career and professional development;
  • Examines and adopts load equity across advisors;
  • Places a strong emphasis on building relationships that impact retention; and
  • Fully leverages technology to drive the optimal advising experience.

We want your help with these important projects. Any employee interested in participating in one of the working groups should inform the MTN Leadership Team by emailing Joe Latulippe (jlatulippe@linfield.edu), Gerardo Ochoa (gochoa@linfield.edu), or Lainie Sowell (ksowell@linfield.edu) by Wed., Nov. 30. The three Success Initiatives groups will be finalized soon and begin work by the end of the Fall 2022 semester. Space on each working group is limited, and as such the MTN Leadership team will try to accommodate requests for participation while ensuring broad representation.
