Pre-Nursing Advising
The Pre-Nursing Advising Program is a partnership with Nursing faculty, McMinnville campus faculty advisors, and Pre-Nursing students to share resources and information about the profession of nursing and empower students to set and achieve their goals for entry to the Nursing major.
All Linfield students receive guidance and support from an assigned faculty or professional advisor and must meet with the advisor prior to registration every semester. Pre-Nursing students are advised by their initial First Semester Seminar (FSS) advisor/instructor until they declare their major as pre-nursing and are encouraged to switch to a pre-nursing faculty advisor. Once students begin the nursing program on the Portland campus, students will be assigned a School of Nursing faculty advisor that will guide them through their remaining nursing curriculum and help prepare them for their NCLEX exam after graduation. Supplemental pre-nursing advising is available by the Pre-Nursing/Nursing Academic Advisor and the Academic Advising staff.
Students pursuing nursing should declare their interest (pre-nursing) while on the McMinnville campus. Students can declare their major on Etrieve using the Declaration of Academic Program and Change of Advisor form. When declaring, pre-nursing students are encouraged to select a pre-nursing faculty advisor. Students will also need to indicate their cohort code - the semester and year they intend to start in the Nursing program on the Portland Campus.
