Catnet Password Changes - Effective November 17, 2020!

Per Linfield’s password policy, you will need to change your Catnet password every six months. Failure to update your Catnet password within this allotted time will result in your inability to access Linfield resources that require a login.

To change your password before it expires:

  • Open our identity portal (https://riportal.linfield.edu) in any browser.
  • Login with your Catnet credentials.
  • Click your name in the upper right and choose Change Password.

To change your password after it expires or if you have forgotten your password:

Note: You will need to have already set up your challenge questions (see bottom of page).

  • Open our identity portal (https://riportal.linfield.edu) in any browser.
  • Click on “Need Help”?
  • Click on Forgot My Password.
  • Enter your username/Catnet and then click Next.
  • Answer your Challenge Questions and then click Next.  Your answers are not case sensitive.
  • You will now be prompted to enter a new password in the first box, and to verify it in the second box.
  • Click Next.

The password requirements are:

  • Minimum length: 8 characters
  • Maximum length: 24 characters
  • Must contain:
    • 1 upper case letter
    • 1 lower case letter
    • 1 number
  • May contain special characters except; \ ? : @ & = < >
  • Cannot be a password you have used before.

Setup your challenge questions:

  • Open our identity portal (https://riportal.linfield.edu) in any browser.
  • Login with your Catnet credentials, and you will be prompted to setup security questions (first login only). Select two pre-defined questions, and create one your choice question. The answers to your challenge questions are not case sensitive.  
  • Click Save.
  • Cick your name in the upper right and select Logout.
