Semester Abroad in Chile

Programs

• Universidad del Bio Bio: Chillan, Chile
  • A full Spanish immersion program, where students live with local host families and take courses with Chilean students. 
  • Chillan is a regional center with a population of approximately 150,000 people and located near the center of Chile. 
  • The region around Chillan is an outdoor adventure land. Skiing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking- all are nearby. 

Academics

• Universidad del Bio Bio academics
• Student take regular classes in the humanities taught in Spanish with Chilean and other international students
• Small class sizes

Dates

• Fall: mid August - mid December
• Spring: late February/early March - mid July
• Students majoring in Spanish may study for an academic year

Additional Requirements and Recommendations

• Open to Spanish majors and minors 
• B average in Spanish language classes
• Must be enrolled or have completed the equivalent to GLSP 301 to apply
• It is highly recommended that students take TCCA 230 (Intercultural Communication: Global Perspectives).
