Fundamentals of Online Learning

The Fundamentals of Online Learning (FoOT) is a three-week online course for faculty - and others in teaching roles. This course examines the structure, tools and activities that make online learning effective. It introduces the research base that supports good online teaching. Participants develop a keen understanding of what it is like to be an online student. This course is designed for face to face instructors who wish to improve the online elements of their course - as well as those who teach blended and fully online courses. This is not an introduction to Blackboard (See Blackboard BootCamp below). See a draft of the syllabus. Expect to spend a minimum of 5 hrs. each week.

Dates: Monday, October 25 through Sunday, November 14.

Writing Pedagogy Workshop

The Writing Pedagogy Workshop is sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs and organized by the Writing Program. A $300 stipend is available for those who attend the complete workshop.


Blackboard Bootcamp

Blackboard Bootcamp is a training course offered by the Instructional Design team. It is for faculty and staff who want to learn how to more effectively use the Blackboard course management system. For more information contact Laura Zaepfel or Jane Wilde.

Cohort Section

New cohorts starting in August and September 2021 Dates TBD
This program will be offered over the course of four weeks with both synchronous and asynchronous elements. There are three modules total and participants can choose which module they wish to complete during the cohort. Self-Paced Section

This program is self-paced and can be completed in two to eight weeks with regular synchronous check-ins with the instructor. There are three modules total. Participants can choose which one or how many they wish to complete in the agreed upon interval. Sign up now.
