Will there be assigned times for students to eat?
At this time, Linfield does not anticipate assigning specific dining times to specific groups of guests. There may be specific events or periods, such as orientation week, that may have separate assigned meal times for scheduling purposes.

What is Sodexo doing to protect students’ and guests’ health and safety?
Dining Services is committed to protecting the health and safety of everyone who dines on campus, as well as all members of our dining services team. When Dining Services reopens, guests can expect some operational changes at Dillin Hall, Wildcat Express and Starbucks. In general, guests will see floor decals delineating traffic patterns and queuing space to ensure physical distancing, reorganized seating configuration and capacity, stations attended by uniformed staff, take-out options, designated entrances and exits, etc. The flexible reopening plan also includes satellite meal pick-up location(s) on campus to facilitate faster and easier access to delicious, nourishing food choices at a proper physical distance. For more information, check out the Guide to Campus Dining Safety in the Wake of COVID-19.

What plans are there for increasing physical distancing in the dining hall?

Dining Room Tents
Two temporary outdoor dining room tents will be setup on Renshaw Avenue, just west of Dillin Hall.  These tents will provide alternative seating options for students to use while eating. No seating will be available inside of Dillin at this time due to maximum capacity guidelines.

Please note that Renshaw Avenue from Linfield Avenue to Boardman Street will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning 8/7/2020 until the end of the semester. Please watch for additional signage that would impact parking and traffic flow.

Satellite Locations for Lunch Pick-Up
Beginning August 24th, Dining Services will open two satellite locations -- @ Riley Campus Center Student Lounge and @ HHPA Concession Stand -- for lunch pick-up Monday-Friday from 11:00am – 1:15pm. Students can use a meal swipe at both of these locations – cash, credit card, Flex dollars and Wildcat cash will not be accepted.

Wildcat Express
Wildcat Express, located inside of Dillin Hall, offers take-out options during and between established meal periods.  Students can use a meal swipe for a lunch or dinner, and can also use Flex dollars, Wildcat cash or credit card to purchase other items.

Will cash be accepted at Dining Services locations?
Dining Services is transitioning to a cash-less operation during fall semester.  Please consider purchasing Wildcat Cash for use at Dillin, Wildcat Express and Starbucks for a contactless payment options.

What is Wildcat Cash and how is it different from Flex Dollars?
Wildcat Cash is voluntary dollars that you can choose to add (or replenish) whenever you choose. Like Flex Dollars, Wildcat Cash works like a pre-paid debit card with funds kept on your student ID card and may be used at any on-campus dining location (Dillin or Starbucks). Unlike Flex Dollars, however, Wildcat Cash can be carried over from year to year.

If you run out of Wildcat Cash, you may decide to replenish your account by adding additional funds to your account or make purchases using cash/debit/credit. Wildcat Cash may be purchased (or replenished) in the Dining Services office in Dillin Hall.

How will students who are isolated or in quarantine utilize their meal plans?
If you did get diagnosed with COVID by a test or symptoms suggestive of COVID, you would be placed in a private room with access to a bathroom, also known as isolation. You would remain in this room for a period of 10 days from either the day your first symptoms developed or you were tested AND you are free of fever without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours.

Because turnaround time for the test is widely variable, you would be isolated immediately to keep you in a safe place and reduce the possibility of transmitting the virus to others.

While in isolation, you will have a member of the Health Care team checking on you once a day, asking you to report any new or worsening symptoms. You will be provided with written instructions for what to look for and what would constitute an emergency and need for immediate care. You will also be assigned a member of the Residence Life team who will also check in with you, using text, phone calls or some electronic face-to-face option. This team member will make sure the food delivery system is going okay and that you have connected with Learning Support Services, so they can help arrange whatever accommodations needed to keep your academics going.

Finally, you will also be contacted by a member of the Yamhill County contact tracing team to investigate your illness and see if they can identify where it was picked up from and who may have been exposed.

Will I be required to wear a face covering while in the dining areas?
Face coverings are not required when eating. Face coverings shouldbe worn when entering, exiting, and when not actively eating or drinking in the dining areas on campus.

Is mobile ordering and pickup available through Dining locations on campus?
Sodexo is putting the finishing touches on their app, Bite. Stay tuned for more information about the app and availability at Linfield.

Will dining be different regarding dietary or allergen needs under new COVID-19 procedures?
Dining Services locations will continue to follow strict allergen-safety procedures. As always, some locations are better able to accommodate food allergies than others. If you have questions about the best places to eat for your particular allergy, please contact Javier Lopez at
