When should I apply to Law School?

If you are planning to attend law school directly after graduating from Linfield, you should prepare to apply to law schools in spring term of your third year. Many Linfield pre-law students, however, wait to apply to law school until after they have graduated with their bachelor's degrees.  Out of the 71 Linfield students who applied to law school between 2001-2011,  77% were students who had graduated at least 1 year prior to when they applied.  Only 23% of Linfield's law school applicants between 2001-2011 were currently enrolled students when they applied.

Waiting to apply to law school and taking time away from school is not unusual. The average age of law students is often 25-27 and many applicants wait 1-2 years after graduating to sit for the LSAT exam and apply to law school. When you apply to law school, whether you go straight through or take time away from school, is a personal and individual decision.

Please note:

Pre-law advising services are available to current students and Linfield alum.  If you are a graduate and interested in applying for law school, please call 503-883-2250 if you have questions or are seeking advice about the application procedure.
